Bentley, College, a top-ranked business college, continues fall tour with Philadelphia College Fair Sunday, November 14, 2004, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center

Waltham, MA November 4, 2004 -- Bentley College, named one of 12 Hot Schools for 2004 by Kaplan/Newsweek, will be a featured exhibitor at the upcoming Philadelphia National College Fair on Sunday, November 14 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA.

Recognized for its distinctiveness as a Business University, Bentley ranked #2 among the schools reviewed by Kaplan/Newsweek based on admission trends and interviews with teachers and students. The Princeton Review ranked Bentley among the 357 Best Colleges and Universities for 2005, in addition to citing it as #3 among the nations Most Connected colleges in 2004.

Those interested in learning more about Bentleys unique approach to business education will have the opportunity to talk with an admission counselor on November 14 and hear their personal perspective on the Bentley experience. Prospective students, parents and guidance counselors will learn about Bentleys beautiful campus just minutes from Boston, its new Student Center, cuttingedge labs, high-tech classrooms and residence halls all wired with the latest technology.

Bentley is a different kind of business school. Students interested in business and related professions can choose from a wide range of programs that address all the functional areas of business including accounting, finance, marketing, management and liberal arts -- all with a strong foundation in technology. The arts and sciences join business as an integral part of the Bentley curriculum. Half of the undergraduate courses are in arts and sciences disciplines where students build skills in critical thinking, decision-making, communication and other areas essential for well-rounded professionals.

The benefits of a Bentley education are numerous -- outstanding preparation in business and the arts and sciences, a faculty of dynamic and talented teachers with real-world research and consulting experience, and a vibrant campus teeming with athletic, social and cultural opportunities. The themes of ethics and social/civic responsibility are woven throughout the schools curriculum; Bentleys Service-Learning program is ranked among the top 20 in the United States. Students are also encouraged to study abroad in summer, semester or short-term programs, as well as to pursue internships at leading companies in the U.S. and overseas.

While Bentley offers a breadth and depth usually found only in larger university programs, the experience is extremely student-centered. Bentley is a teaching-focused college that offers a personal experience, with small classes and an excellent faculty-student ratio of 1 to 13. There are no lecture halls at Bentley. All courses are taught by professors not graduate assistants who put a premium on first-rate teaching, research and advising.

Concepts and theories that students learn in the classroom come alive in several hands-on, high-tech learning laboratories -- each among the first of its kind in higher education. The financial Trading Room, a virtual laboratory of world financial markets, offers first-hand exposure to financial concepts such as risk management and asset valuation. In the Center for Marketing Technology undergraduates learn the latest research tools and strategies in marketing and advertising. The Accounting Center for Electronic Learning and Business Measurement introduces students to the cutting-edge tools and technologies that have reshaped the profession of accounting. The Center for Languages and International Collaboration is a key resource for language students, international studies majors, and anyone with an interest in international issues. The Design and Usability Testing Center puts into students hands the same applications employed by technical communicators. The Mobile Computing program provides all Bentley freshmen with a network-ready laptop computer fully loaded with software.

Bentleys new athletic and recreation facilities complement the 22 varsity teams in Division I and II, and the extensive intramural and recreational sports programs. Boston, just 10 miles from campus, and Cambridge, a regular trip on the free shuttle, are great resources for internships, job opportunities, cultural events and social life. More than 90 percent of Bentley students find employment within six months of graduation.
